Edwin Gonzalez

Visual artist Edwin Gonzalez is a first generation Puerto Rican American born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Edwin's work is influenced by pop culture, fashion, science fiction and mythology. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute who has taught at the Cooper Union and the Bronx River Art Center.

Stemming from his roots in sculpture and photography, Edwin explores issues of identity, gender and cultural bias. His most recent works have been a series of transformative role-play documentations in which Mr. Gonzalez's observations are realized under the guises of the Drug lord, Nyorican, and the Goth, among others. The underlying issues they investigate fuel his work.

Edwin's work has been shown at the Bronx River Art Center, SC17 Gallery and is a member of ArtGroup and the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Association.

Mr. Gonzalez currently lives and works in the Bronx. He is currently the resident teaching artist at Beginning with Children Charter School.
