Songyi Kim

Songyi Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea and lives in New York. Portraying her personal identity through digital filming and printing, she make the story of the self between amusing and sometimes excruciating in the private domain. Her works have been recently screened at Asian American International Film Festival in New York, Rooftop Films Festival in Brooklyn and VI Salon International De Arte Digital in Habana, Cuba. Also her works have appeared in numerous shows including AIM24 at the Bronx Museum of the Arts; More Fresh Meat at Kim Forster Gallery in New York; The Self Portrait Project on www.Blackbird.vcu.edu; and ¿ 1999 Things at Gallery Boda in Seoul. She received her MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University from Richmond, VA and her BFA from Soeul National University in Seoul, Korea

Through various community, advocacy and promotional initiatives, the Coalition of Mott Haven Artists, an artist run organization, is dedicated to cultivating and generating public awareness of Mott Haven as an artist community.
